CARRIERS&ISPs

Wireless technology has worked miracles with tele-density all over South East and South Asia, providing telephone access to the remotest of villages over cellular networks. However the same has not happened with broadband.

Since 2005, The Red Snapper has devoted time, effort and development funds to understand and address this situation in a manner that enables broadband penetration while ensuring the varied concerns of deploying carriers and ISPs are adequately addressed.

Carriers
Carriers have invested millions if not billions in cellular footprints. Their path towards higher speeds and broadband has been dictated largely by WCDMA/ 3G air interface related developments putting the carriers unnecessarily at odds with OFDM/OFDMA air interfaces like WiFi and WMax.

Rather than follow an expensive HSDPA/ HSUPA/ HSPA path towards LTE enabled wireless broadband which would anyway require a change to an OFDMA air interface, The Red Snapper offers a significantly cheaper and more effective alternative by enabling carriers to deploy WiFi and WiMax footprints and patch them into their cellular networks creating a single footprint with smooth handover of user CPEs and handhelds.

Carriers no longer need to agonize over an either/or scenario between 3G and WiFi/WiMax.

ISPs and New Licensees
WiMax licenses lie unused poorly utilized all over South and South East Asia.

The Red Snapper assists the ISP or new entrant to finance and deploy a converged WiFi-WiMax footprint in a phased manner that intelligently eschews “build and they will come” scenarios.
